Want to know about the makeup trends that ruled the runway?

You! highlights some of the looks as witnessed at FPW ‘16...

It is that time of the year again, when we all gear up to find out gazillion beauty trends that just blow us away. Yes, it is through these fashion shows/weeks that our very own style and makeup gurus make sure to scrutinize diversified runway looks before they are presented on the ramps, season after season. And Fashion Pakistan Week is one such event that has garnered the reputation of being one of the most credible fashion weeks of the country where one gets to see latest trends in hair and makeup along with fashion.

This year while there were more lows than highs at the fashion week, the one area where we saw perfection was the magical presentation of the model brigade. The theme for this year’s hair and make-up was effortless yet impactful and was created by none other than team NPro.See more at:formal evening dresses

Highlight away:

The art of strobing was one of the latest trends that was introduced and greatly admired by all. Strobing is the new contouring or you simply refer to it as highlighting. Extra highlighting makes the skin appear dewy, shimmery and more youthful. It adds glow to the skin. And that is the look that we saw on the runway. Strobed skin juxtaposed with smudged dark eyes and brushed up brows were order of the day. NPro has mastered the art of strobing and so it was not surprising that on all three days we witnessed a beautiful glow on the models despite their hectic routine.

Go glittery:

Peachy pinks and matte metallics were the choice of colours for the lips and eyes. Team NPro however, wavered from their preferred colours for HSY’s regal collection. The look was designed to dress up his clothes. The makeup team opted for lilac pink glitter-packed lips with a clean slick gelled back detailed ponytail that did wonders for his collection.

Accessorise those tresses:

For Shamaeel Ansari’s dramatic segment, the team had employed hair embellishments and loose half tied intricate hair. And that is also the style that is en vogue - detailed hair that we will be seeing quite often on and off the ramps.

The tastefully accessorised hair added oomph to the designers’ collections. Hair accessories are a time honoured way to add a special note to hairstyles, to integrate the hairstyle and attire, or for practical reason. Delicate hair embellishments/chains added a surreal beauty to the gorgeous models.

Stealing the limelight:

Our favourite showstopper in terms of overall presentation - hair, makeup and panache this year was Mawra Hocane, who epitomised the cool young modern girl which was adroitly translated in the look as well.

As for the men, there were lots considering quite a few designers who sent down their menswear line this year. The theme behind men styling was the classy school-groomed look. The makeup and grooming team made it a point not to have too much height in the hair and the result was classic.

Designer delight:

The designer line-up for this year’s fashion week comprised Amir Adnan, Maheen Karim, Mona Imran, Sonia Nazir, Shamael Ansari & Amir Adnan for the segment Kosem Sultan, Suffuse by Sana Yasir, Jeem by Hamza Bokhari, HSY, Shehla Chatoor, FnkAsia by Huma Adnan, HEM, Arsalan Iqbal, Natasha Kamal, Deepak Perwani, Nida Azwer, Saira Rizwan, Deepak n Fahad, Republic Womenswear, Rozina Munib and Nauman Arfeen. But hands down the stars of this year’s fashion week were Shamaeel Ansari, Maheen Khan, Shehla Chatoor, Nida Azwer and Deepak Perwani.Read more at:http://www.marieaustralia.com/formal-dresses-2016

The downside...

In the past, FPW has not only brought on ramp some of the most sought after collections by Pakistan’s top-notch designers, but has also brought together foreign buyers who take this show very seriously and end up striking admirable business deals with our designers. However, Fashion Pakistan Week Winter Festive, 2016 was a tad lacklustre this time around. Not only were most of the bigwigs missing from action, but there seemed to be a lack of ethos that has been synonymous with the fashion week previously. One expected a fashionable presentation on all the three days seamlessly orchestrated, but what one actually witnessed was a hotch-potch of designs veering from one category to another without any warning. A party line would segue into a bridal showcase while the very next minute a dramatic presentation would serenade the senses. The guests, media and celebrities were quite entertained as they passed their time guessing what would surprise them next - a hot sizzling model sashaying down the runway, Mukhtaran Mai walking alongside skimpily clad models, Ali Sethi’s crooning, an ostentatious bridal line-up or the myriad of showstoppers that kept the ramp ablaze with their star power!

Magic on the runway:

From gelled hair to top knots and wispy hair; for makeup the eye and brow details and the metallic and glitter lip finishes and skin textures were all in line with the current international trends. And Nabila’s team surely did a fabulous job of bringing magic to the runway at this year’s not-so-exciting FPW ‘16. Keeping fingers crossed for an electrifying next instalment! Here’s wishing the best to the new council... they certainly need it!
